Terry Wilhelm
Terry Wilhelm has been prosecuting criminals in Greene County for 25 years. Since being elected District attorney in 1999, he has gone into court and personally prosecuted the most serious cases and secured convictions against the county’s worst criminals. Not a single one of his felony convictions has ever been overturned on appeal. Terry will continue to work closely with police agencies throughout the county to put violent criminals, sex offenders, domestic abusers and drug dealers behind bars, to help maintain our quality of life here in Greene County and to keep our communities safe.
His background includes:
- 25 years experience as a prosecutor in the Greene county District Attorney’s office
- Obtained guilty verdict last year in entirely circumstantial case where defendant was convicted of physically abusing and murdering a 3 year old girl. Defendant sentenced to 25 years to life in prison
- Obtained guilty verdict earlier this year convicting defendant of sodomizing and sexually abusing a 9 year old girl. Defendant sentenced to 32 years in prison.
- As District Attorney initiated a get-tough policy on welfare fraud resulting in numerous prosecutions which helped save Greene County over one million dollars during his first 7 years in office
- As District Attorney helped to make our county’s correctional facilities safer by initiating a crackdown on inmate crime and prosecuting nearly 200 felony cases charging inmates with possessing dangerous weapons
- Served as Village of Catskill Justice in 1980 and 1981
- Members of NYS Bar Association and NYS Magistrate’s Association
- Member and past President of Greene County Bar Association
Terry lives in Catskill with his wife, Cheryl, and their two children, Tyler and Stephanie. He has lived in Catskill since early childhood and is a graduate of Catskill High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at The College of Saint Rose and his Juris Doctor Degree at Albany Law School.
