Michael (Mike) Flynn is asking for your support to represent the citizens of Greene County as our next County clerk.

Mike currently resides with his wife Fay (Zindell) Flynn in Cairo, New York and has been a Cairo resident since 1973.

After attending college at Ulster County Community College, Mike served in Vietnam with the US Navy. Mike entered the New York State Police Academy in 1974 and served the people of Greene County as a Trooper and BCI investigator for 25 Years.

Mike served the Republican Party by assisting in the successful campaign to elect Mary Donahue Lieutenant Governor. Mike was selected and accepted an appointment to a Governor’s Comission to review spending and overruns in the construction and rehabilitation of school buildings in New York City. The Commission identified problems and solutions which saved New York State taxpayers million of dollars.

Mike ran as the Republican candidate of Cairo Town Justice and was decisively elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2003 with the cross endorsement from the Democratic Party. Mike served two terms as the President of the Greene County Magistrates Association.

In 2000 Mike was selected and accepted an appointment as the Director of Audit and Management Services at the New York State Thruway Authority. This executive position includes the responsibilities of Internal Auditor, Liaison with the Audit and Finance Committee, Internal Controls Officer, Procurement Integrity Officer and Infrastructure Security Officer.

Mike has dedicated his professional life to the community service and has developed the management skills to provide the citizens of Greene County with the best qualifications and experience to lead the Greene County Clerk’s Office into the future.
